National Award-winning playback artist Vani Jairam, who was awarded the Padma Bhushan award - the third highest civilian award. has been discovered dead in her Chennai home on the weekend.
As per reports, the woman was discovered dead, with a wound on her forehead in her residence located on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam, in Chennai. She was 78 .
A team of forensic experts visited the home in the evening and took samples.
Vani Jairam collaborated with a number of the most prominent composers in diverse industries to create evergreen chart-topping hits.
She is a talented performer with a plethora song titles with lyrics in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tulu and Oriya to her credits.
She has performed in all over the country and throughout the globe. It should be noted that she has been awarded National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer three times.
She has also received awards from the State of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat and Odisha
Vani Jairam recently completed fifty years of professional singing and recorded over 10,000 songs.
She has collaborated with famous composers, including MS Viswanathan Ilaiyaraaja, RD Burman, KV Mahadevan, OP Nayyar, and Madan Mohanamong others.
